OUR CORE VALUES

What do our colours mean?

Purple

Purple is the colour associated with imagination. We have all imagined playing for England,

wondered how it would feel to score a century at Lord’s, or play in an Ashes Test at the MCG. Such

experiences are reserved only for the very best cricketers, but we can all continue to dream dreams

and set our imagination free in whatever cricket context we find ourselves. I believe that imagination

plays a vital role in developing cricket skills in many different ways. At a simple level just watching

what other players do well, visualising their skills, and believing that you can emulate them, is the

first important step towards being a good cricketer. Imagination can breed confidence, and

confidence is absolutely essential in moving from one level to another. At cricketfirst we encourage

young players to imagine how good they can be, and then we help them fulfil their dreams.

Green

Green is the colour associated with new growth and regeneration. All good cricketers start from small beginnings, developing simple skills, learning the basics well, and then as time moves on they grow in stature, execute their skills more efficiently and in more challenging conditions. Cricketers continue to grow throughout their careers, and improvement is a continuous process of learning from your mistakes, reinventing yourself, making adjustments, and using your experience. At cricketfirst we help the youngest players to put in place those important fundamental skills without which growth is impossible. As they get older we develop those skills and help them to grow into the cricketers they aspire to be.

Red

Red is the colour associated with passion. The best cricketers are those whose love of the game shines through every aspect of their connection with cricket. On the field they play with determination and enjoyment, off the field they contribute to their club, they never get bored of talking about cricket, and they take their place in the fraternity of those who, like them, love the game passionately. At cricketfirst we seek to foster a love of cricket for its own sake, a respect for the game and its traditions, and a recognition of the responsibility of every single cricketer to protect it for the future.
